Defendant appeals from his conviction on a charge of driving an automobile while under the influence of intoxicating liquor. His conviction of this misdemeanor resulted in a fine of $100.

The record discloses that at 1:40 a.m. on July 10, 1969, the defendant was arrested by a State trooper and taken to the Sangamon County jail, having been charged with driving while under the influence of intoxicating liquor...
