Plaintiff, Jimmy Napier, a deaf-mute since birth, aged 6 years and 4 months at the time of the occurrence, was a passenger in defendant Willett's bus, returning from a school for handicapped children. Codefendant, Sam Solomone, was the driver of the bus. Jimmy lived at 2117 West Ohio Street on the south side of the street, about three doors west of the intersection with Hoyne Avenue, in Chicago.
