Appellant Hines seeks reversal of the trial court's denial of habeas corpus relief. Hines was convicted in 1959 of first degree murder in the District Court of Colfax County, New Mexico, and sentenced to life imprisonment and remains in State custody under that sentence. No direct appeal was taken in the State courts, but Hines collaterally attacked the conviction and sentence by a subsequent State...
