These two consolidated cases are identical in all respects except as to the respective amounts of recovery sought. The plaintiffs seek recovery of damages for trespass.

The plaintiffs own adjoining long narrow tracts of land running back from the Mississippi River in St. Bernard Parish including batture and riparian rights. The plaintiff Charles F. Gallo (proceeding No. 3389) owns a tract 50 feet wide, which, for the purpose of this opinion...
