Dean Finch was seriously injured when a bicycle ridden by him collided with an automobile driven by defendant Bonita Marie Christensen. Separate actions were commenced, one by the father, Dan Finch, for recovery of amounts paid for medical services and hospital care in the treatment of his minor son and the other action was brought by the father as guardian ad litem for the son for personal injuries.
