On June 6, 1966, Leroy Ferby was arraigned in the Circuit Court of Dinwiddie County upon an indictment charging him with the malicious wounding of Edgar Crowder. He was represented by court-appointed counsel and pleaded not guilty to the charge. By consent the case was heard by the trial court without a jury which found him guilty and on July 19, 1966 entered judgment sentencing him to confinement in the State Penitentiary for a term of fifteen...
