The State of Louisiana through the Department of Highways filed this suit expropriating for highway purposes a portion of defendant's property located at the northeast corner of Fourth and Scott Streets in Alexandria, Louisiana. Plaintiff deposited $15,966.00 as just compensation for the property expropriated. Defendant filed responsive pleadings alleging the amount deposited was inadequate and seeking an increase in the award for the value of the land...
