After a preliminary hearing, appellant John Butcher was charged in an information filed by the District Attorney of Orange County with two counts of grand theft (Pen. Code, §§ 484-487). Eventually he waived jury trial and stipulated the matter could be decided on the testimony contained in the transcript of the preliminary hearing.
