This suit was brought by Norcross W. Putnam and Ruth Putnam against New Amsterdam Casualty Co., under an automobile policy which insured plaintiffs. The complaint grew out of an accident which occurred on August 19, 1961, at which time the Putnams and a Mrs. Emerick were passengers in an automobile owned by John J. Porchivina and driven by his wife, Margaret Porchivina,
