HAYS, Justice.

Donald Chambers was convicted of murder in the first degree and sentenced to life imprisonment. After the usual preliminary proceedings at which the defendant was represented by counsel, the case proceeded to trial.

The trial had been in progress two days or so when defendant's counsel indicated to the court and the county attorney that the defendant wished to withdraw his plea of not guilty and to enter a plea of guilty to the charge. The following...
