Plaintiff was injured while a passenger in an automobile which was wrecked when it went off a detour and over a steep bank on the Coast Highway. Defendant was acting District Maintenance Superintendent of the Oregon State Highway Commission. He was charged with negligence in the manner in which the detour was established and maintained.
