Robert Grene was convicted on July 19, 1962, of mail fraud, securities fraud, and conspiracy. On July 20, 1962, he was sentenced to confinement for a period of 15 years, which sentence was subsequently reduced to 12 years. On March 19, 1968, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit recalled its mandate, vacated the conviction of Grene and remanded the case to this Court for an evidentiary hearing on the issue of...
