DiPaola, an employee of third-party defendant Pier 8 Terminals, Inc. ("Pier 8"), brought this suit in admiralty for damages to compensate him for injuries suffered on September 20, 1963, when some stacked bags of coffee fell upon him while he was sweeping the floor of a warehouse on the pier where the bags were stored after being unloaded from the motor vessel Lia on either September 17 or 18, 1963.
