KOBAYASHI, Justice.

On June 7, 1964, at approximately 8:10 p.m. while defendant Ludwig Auer and his wife Ingrid were traveling makai on University Avenue, in Honolulu, defendant collided with a car driven by plaintiff Hideyuki Kono at the Date Street intersection. The Auers were traveling at 25 miles per hour which was the posted speed limit. Mrs. Auer testified that the traffic signal light facing them on University Avenue at the Date Street intersection was dark...
