This appeal involves the question of the applicability of an exculpatory clause in a lease purporting to exonerate the landlord from liability "for any damage to person or property arising from any cause whatsoever."

The litigation arose when Michael E. Taylor, an infant, by Anne R. Taylor, his mother and next friend, the plaintiff, filed a motion for judgment against Virginia Construction Corporation, trading as Azalea Garden Apartments...
