The State Employees' Retirement Law provides a special death benefit for the widow or child of a forestry member whose death, as determined by the Workmen's Compensation Appeals Board, is industrial. (Gov. Code, § 21363.5.) A referee of the Workmen's Compensation Appeals Board awarded the death benefit to the widow of June B. McNerney, finding that Mr. McNerney's death was work-connected.
