The plaintiff is the producer of a play called "The Beard", which at the time this action was commenced was playing in Hollywood, despite the fact that a city permit required by the provisions of § 103.114 of the Los Angeles Municipal Code had been denied. The police undertook to stop the play by making nightly arrests of the plaintiff and the two actors in the play, charging them with violation of the Municipal Code and...
