Plaintiff who has suffered a double amputation brings this personal injury action against the defendant railroad.

The accident occurred on June 30, 1967. Within a few days defendant's insurer interviewed witnesses and contacted plaintiff's wife. On July 7, 1967 immediately upon being retained, plaintiff's counsel wrote a letter to defendant's insurer advising
