May 13, 1958, Martin L. Sheppard (hereinafter called petitioner) was charged in the Pierce County Superior Court with robbery. Competent counsel was appointed to represent him and he entered a plea of not guilty. Prior to his trial, petitioner's counsel contacted petitioner's aunt, who was acting as his guardian since his own parents did not reside in the state of Washington...
