On March 2, 1965, Mary Alford, John Alford, husband of Mary Alford, Mary Ann Alford, their three-year-old daughter, and Ed Bethea and George Bethea, brothers of Mary Alford, lived together in the house where George Bethea was shot and killed. At the September 25, 1967 Criminal Session, Mary Alford, then the divorced wife of defendant, did not testify to any confidential communication from defendant to her.
