Driving conditions were bad that early evening of January 2, 1967, when Norman May and his wife were killed in an automobile accident. It was windy and dark, and raining very heavily. Shortly before 7 o'clock, the Mays, driving south in their Chevrolet, were rounding a curve to the left on the Pine Lake Road when their car was struck head on by the defendant's Ford car.
