Indicted for grand theft (Pen. Code, § 484) and for assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury (Pen. Code, § 245), defendant entered a plea of not guilty as to each count, waived a jury trial, waived his right to the assistance of counsel, and proceeded to trial in propria persona.
