On September 14, 1968, by letter dated September 13, the Peace and Freedom Party was duly informed by the Lieutenant Governor that the name of Eldridge Cleaver could not appear as a presidential candidate on the ballot as he was 33 years of age and did not meet the specific requirement of Article II, Section 1 of the United States Constitution.1
