Plaintiff, a passenger in defendant's automobile, was injured when defendant fell asleep, ran off the road and struck a utility pole, catapulting plaintiff through the windshield. Severe lacerations necessitated some 500 sutures and a skin graft. Permanent scarring resulted. Following a jury trial, a verdict was rendered in favor of plaintiff in the amount of $15,000.
