The plaintiff-appellant, Mary Ruth Young, was injured in 1958 when she fell over a garden hose stretched across the sidewalk. The defendants-appellees operated a construction company. One of their employees had attached the hose to a fire hydrant and stretched the hose across the sidewalk to private property.
