The defendant was charged in a two count information, dated May 18, 1960, with breaking and entering and grand larceny. On January 26, 1966, approximately five and one-half years later, the court appointed the public defender to represent the defendant. On the same date, defendant was arraigned in open court, at which time he entered a plea of not guilty and waived trial by jury.
