Defendant Gibbs cashed five checks totaling $1,900 at Harvey's Wagon Wheel and Harrah's Club, gaming establishments located on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe. When the checks were returned unpaid for lack of sufficient funds, the two clubs assigned them to plaintiff for collection.
