Defendant was indicted for the unlawful sale of narcotics. He was tried by a jury, found guilty, and sentenced to the penitentiary for a term of ten years to life. This trial took place on November 24, 1964, and a proper notice of appeal was filed from that conviction. Subsequently, on November 23, 1966, defendant filed a petition to vacate the judgment and sentence pursuant to section 72 of the Illinois Civil...
