Appellant, then 17 years old, was convicted of rape and sentenced on April 4, 1963, to a term of imprisonment of from 10 to 30 years. No notice of appeal was filed. On September 26, 1963, appellant filed a pro se motion in the District Court alleging, inter alia, that he was denied the right of appeal.
