At White's trial in the New Hampshire Superior Court for Cheshire County in February, 1963, the State was allowed over objection to introduce testimony by the Sheriff of Cheshire County and the County Attorney of incriminating statements volunteered to them by White while he was in their custody after indictments had been returned against him for kidnapping, aggravated assault and robbery.
