Defendant, at all times concerned an inmate of the Washington State Penitentiary, was charged, tried, and convicted of the crime of assault in the second degree, a felony. On appeal, he makes one basic assignment of error. He contends he was denied a speedy trial and due process of law as such are accorded to him by Const. art. 1, § 22 (amendment 10),1 and the fourteenth amendment...
