On June 1, 1949, the defendant, who was then 22 years old, was arraigned in the Carroll County Superior Court on a complaint of the county solicitor, the defendant having waived indictment; the complaint charged the defendant with breaking and entering in the nighttime, with the intent to steal goods in the store, and with stealing from the store.
