Defendant was charged by information with the crime of petty larceny, in violation of Code section 709.2. He was charged with stealing coins to the value of $8.53 from the City of Des Moines. He entered a plea of not guilty, was tried before the court, found guilty and sentenced to a term of 30 days in the Polk County jail, as provided by section 709.2.
