In April of 1964, the defendant was convicted on the charge of armed robbery. CLS 1961, § 750.529 (Stat Ann 1963 Cum Supp § 28.797). The defendant was accused of using a female accomplice, one Judith Smith, to entice a southeastern Michigan housewife to the door of her residence, then threatening the housewife with a rifle in order to gain entry to the house for the purpose of robbery.
