Howard De Correvant brought an action for malicious prosecution against Joseph Lohman, then Sheriff of Cook County, and Norman Hawthorne, Jacob Bergbreiter and Peter Gutilla, then deputy sheriffs. At the close of the plaintiff's evidence the defendants moved for directed verdicts, and the motions of Lohman, Bergbreiter and Gutilla were granted.
