This is an appeal from a decree of adoption. The subject is a little girl, not quite seven at this writing. The petitioner, who is the natural mother's aunt by affinity, has had care and custody of the child since she was six months old. The appellant is the mother of the child. A number of questions are raised here, principally whether the court had jurisdiction of the action, and whether the consent of the mother could be dispensed with on the ground...
