On September 11, 1964, shortly before midnight, plaintiff, an employee of Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company (hereinafter called Shipyard), was injured when he allegedly slipped on grease on the flight of stairs aboard the AMERICA, an aircraft carrier then being constructed for the United States Navy by the Shipyard.
