This action was brought by the Attorney General pursuant to 42 U.S.C. § 2000a-5(a) to obtain injunctive relief against an alleged pattern or practice of resistance by the owners and operators of motion picture theaters to the full enjoyment by Negroes of rights secured by 42 U.S.C. § 2000a(a). The defendant Gulf-State Theaters, Inc. was alleged to be the operator of a chain of twenty-four theaters in Mississippi whose operations affected commerce...
