RABINOWITZ, Justice.
The tragic odyssey of the Sitka and its crew began in the spring of 1963 at Crescent City, California, and ended at Kelp Bay in the coastal waters of Alaska. On May 20, 1963, while the Sitka lay anchored off Pond Island in Kelp Bay, Lawrence (Tiny) Tabor was severely wounded in the abdomen by a shotgun blast.
