Defendant was convicted of rape after a jury trial in the circuit court of St. Clair County, and sentenced to imprisonment for a term of thirty years. On this writ of error, defendant contends he was denied his statutory and constitutional rights to a speedy trial, and that the construction heretofore placed by this court upon the "four-month rule" (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1959, chap. 38...
