Defendant, Malinda Newsom, wife of Lawson J. Newsom, deceased, and Lonel Newsom, son of decedent, Lawson J. Newsom, were rival claimants of the proceeds ($1018.30) of a certificate of life insurance issued under a group policy by plaintiff, Prudential Insurance Company of America. Plaintiff filed a "Petition for Interpleader" joining both of the claimants as defendants and obtained an order from the trial court requiring the rival claimants to interplead...
