This is an appeal from a final judgment for the plaintiff after a jury verdict in a suit for false arrest and imprisonment.

The plaintiff below, Nick Bretagna, sued Sherwood Griscom, a police officer, and his employer, the City of Miami Beach, Florida, for false arrest and imprisonment, seeking compensatory and punitive damages.
