On February 5, 1937, in the Circuit Court of Newton County, Charles Edgar Cory, with three prior felony convictions, was found guilty of robbery in the first degree by means of a dangerous and deadly weapon and a jury fixed his punishment at ninety-nine years' imprisonment.
