The defendant, Johnny Paul Taylor, was tried on two indictments, each containing three counts. Indictment numbered One, in its first count, charged that the defendant "on the 6th day of January, 1965, in and upon one, Carmelita Jackson, a female child under the age of sixteen years, to-wit: of the age of seventeen months, feloniously did make an assault on her the said Carmelita Jackson then and there feloniously did attempt to ravish and carnally...
