Petitioner pled guilty to an indictment charging him with the crime of carnal knowledge and abuse of a 6-year-old female child.

He was arrested at 3 a. m. on March 14, 1962. He was taken into custody and questioned by two police officers, during which a request to call his mother was temporarily refused.
