Appellees are employees of appellant, hereinafter referred to as the employer, and are members of Local 7-509 of the Oil, Chemical & Atomic Workers International Union, hereinafter referred to as the union.

The operation of the employer, because of its nature, must be manned continuously, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, and fifty-two weeks a year. A sudden work stoppage of more than a few hours duration would result in damage to equipment...
