Mrs. Gertruda Wiewiarawska was injured on September 24, 1963, while riding as a passenger in a taxicab which collided with another vehicle. Claiming to have been seriously injured, Mrs. Wiewiarawska sued the owner and the driver of the cab in solido for a large sum; her husband joined in the suit and claimed of the same defendants past and future loss of his wife's earnings and past and future medical expenses incurred by him.
