This is an action to recover damages for slander, brought by plaintiff against defendants, J. J. Newberry Company, a corporation, and its store manager, Walter Tobias. A jury trial resulted in a verdict for plaintiff against both defendants for $5000 actual damages and $2000 punitive damages or a total of $7000. The separate after trial motions of the defendants for judgment in accordance with their motions for a directed verdict were overruled...
