Defendants were convicted on two counts of first degree murder (Pen. Code, §§ 187, 189), one count of first degree robbery (Pen. Code, §§ 211, 211a), and four counts of kidnaping for the purpose of robbery (Pen. Code, § 209). On each count of first degree murder, defendant King's penalty was fixed at life imprisonment and defendant Gilbert's penalty was fixed at death. (Pen. Code, §§ 190, 190.1.)
