The cause before us originated in the Circuit Court of DuPage County as a result of an action brought by Robert Calvo, Jr., a minor, by Blanche Calvo, his mother and next friend, to recover damages for personal injuries occasioned by negligence of the defendant Lawrence R. Willson in driving his automobile. The defendant was defaulted for his failure to appear, and, after an ex parte hearing, judgment was entered in favor of plaintiff for $45,000. The...
